So, what will the Personnel Recovery (PR) Training Specialist with SERE Expertise at Terrestris do?

The Personnel Recovery (PR) Training Specialist with SERE Expertise is the subject matter expert (SME) relating to all SERE functions of PR training. The Training Specialist with SERE Expertise is responsible for assisting in the development of training objectives, COI documents, training aids, and lesson plans that align with USAID SEC/ISP/STB PR requirements.

What does a typical day look like for a Personnel Recovery (PR) Training Specialist with SERE Expertise?

A Personnel Recovery (PR) Training Specialist with SERE Expertise's day is dynamic. The role involves conducting training during mobile training team events in both CONUS and OCONUS environments to support USAID Mission-specific Personnel Recovery (PR) Programs and other security training needs. Responsibilities include delivering Personnel Recovery Employee Education, Management, Prevention, and Training (PREEMPT) and PR Officer (PRO) training in accordance with established Course of Instruction (COI) documents, as well as other security training programs as directed by the PR Program Coordinator and Senior Training Specialist.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the person we're looking for if you have:
  • Minimum five years of experience in delivering training and three years of specialized experience in developing and providing training to civilian employees.
  • Must have extensive experience in tactical communications.
  • Must have experience in tactical or field operations medical care.
  • Must have completed the Department of Defense course PR 260, Joint Resistance Training Instructor Course or have equivalent professional experience.
  • SERE Subject Matter Expertise in the areas of: map reading, land navigation, world-wide survival methods/techniques, world-wide escape and evasion techniques, air/sea/land exfiltration, cross cultural communications, physical and psychological aspects across the spectrum of captivity, captive communication techniques across the spectrum of captivity, escape planning techniques across the spectrum of captivity, techniques for resistance to exploitation across the spectrum of captivity, and the U.S. Military Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sensitivity to various issues.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Base knowledge in safety and security principles.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S Passport.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to physically stand, kneel, and bend for long periods of time and the ability to climb ladders with dexterity in both hands.
  • Must be able to lift a 50-pound item to waist height and must be able to lift a 30-pound item over the head.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with corrective lenses if necessary.
  • Must have acceptable color vision and have acceptable depth perception.
  • Must be physically able to travel to and operate in potentially dangerous, overseas environments.
  • Must be physically able to walk distances up to three miles in a variety of adverse environments while carrying a 30-pound backpack.
  • Must have the ability to hear normal conversation, alarm, and warning signals with corrective devices if necessary.
