Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Packaging Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing packaging solutions for our products to ensure the highest standards of quality, cost efficiency, and sustainability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including merch, design, production, and marketing, to deliver packaging that meets both functional and aesthetic requirements, while also enhancing customer experience and minimizing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage a directory of PDQs and Pallets that meet account requirements and standards for efficient development and tracking.
• Oversee and maintain the management of raw materials and packaging libraries to support seasonal inspiration and core products.
• Ensure packaging materials selected work within the costing framework based on the product and account strategy, while keeping sustainability initiative at the forefront.
• Bring innovative packaging solutions to the table, sourcing new ideas from vendors or the market.
• Drive and implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure durability, structural integrity, and visual appeal of packaging.
• Document testing procedures, results, and recommendations, communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with packaging designers and overseas vendors to ensure accurate dimensions and fit for packaging (including die lines and capacity studies).
• Partner with Packaging team on improving substrate and providing detailed BOM (bill of material) as it relates to packaging structures, & PDQ displays.
• Ensure all packaging meets regulatory requirements by liaising with Compliance teams.
• Maintain a strong understanding of color management and packaging materials and die lines.
• Review packaging SMS submits in partnership with the Packaging Design team to ensure comments are made when samples arrive.
• Partner with Packaging designers and Product Designers for Packaging Fittings and folding methods with overseas vendors.
• Maintain and Track submits- including organizing, logging, and follow up.
• SMS & Production Packaging tracking & chasing with factories.
• Support packaging design team with renderings. Knowledge of Sketch Up a plus.
• Partner with packaging designers to create mockups when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience in packaging design, development, and optimization (4+ years preferred).
• Strong packaging knowledge and expertise in testing methodologies, including compression testing, drop testing, vibration testing, and environmental testing.
• Experience working with global print factories and vendors.
• Experience in packaging and point-of-sale displays, especially within apparel or socks, is a plus.
• Proficiency in both Mac and PC platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management).
• Proficient in Excel.
