Essential Job Functions for a Foreman III

This person must have demonstrated the ability to lead a team in a mining/crushing environment. Someone who excels at site management, production, and leadership:

Site Leadership and Production Management (Independent and Efficient)

• Independently supervises a crew of laborers in the daily operations of a designated area of the company.
• Ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of equipment like loaders, haul trucks, and crushers (if applicable).
• Oversees blasting activities (if applicable) with a high degree of proficiency, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Consistently meets or exceeds production quotas for blasted and processed rock, proactively identifying and implementing improvements to optimize output.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment, fostering a culture of efficiency and accident prevention.

Crew Leadership and Development (Mentor and Coach)

• Provides strong and independent leadership to a crew of laborers, effectively assigning tasks, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring clear communication of procedures and goals.
• Trains new crew members on operational tasks, safety protocols, and equipment usage, fostering a learning environment.
• Conducts performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and coaching to improve individual and crew performance.
• Identifies high-potential crew members and mentors them for future leadership roles.
• Creates a positive and collaborative work environment that motivates employees and fosters teamwork.

Quality Control (Maintains High Standards)

• Independently implements and enforces strict quality control measures to ensure blasted and processed rock consistently meets size and specification requirements as per customer needs.
• Conducts regular quality checks and proactively identifies any potential quality issues, taking corrective actions to prevent them.
• Maintains a focus on continuous improvement in quality control processes.

Safety (Champion and Role Model)

• Champions a culture of safety on the job site by independently implementing and enforcing all safety regulations.
• Proactively identifies and addresses potential safety hazards, taking immediate corrective actions to prevent accidents.
• Serves as a role model for safe work practices, consistently adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective gear (PPE).
• Responds to any safety incidents following established procedures, effectively mitigating risks, and ensuring the well-being of the crew.

Communication and Reporting (Clear and Concise)

• Maintains clear and concise communication with superiors, keeping them informed of daily progress, production rates, safety performance, and any potential issues.
• Prepares and submits accurate and detailed daily or weekly reports documenting production activities, safety incidents, and quality control measures.
• Effectively communicates with other departments (e.g., sales, logistics) to ensure alignment and smooth operation.
• May participate in meetings to discuss production goals, safety initiatives, and operational challenges.

Additional Responsibilities

• Oversees and maintains accurate records of production, quality control, and equipment operation data.
• Identifies opportunities for further improvement in efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness within the designated area.
• Stays up to date on industry best practices, regulations, and safety standards for company operations.
• May participate in the selection and training of new crew members.
