Description Woodlands Market, Marin's premier upscale grocery store, has an opening for Kitchen Supervisor! Reporting to the Deli Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor will work directly with the Deli Manager and the Company Food Services Director in managing the Kentfield Food Services Department.
- Oversees and coordinates activities of food preparation, kitchen, storeroom personnel and purchases product and kitchen supplies in coordination or under direction from Deli Manager
- Provide support and input to the Deli Manager to Schedule the department, run breaks and oversee direction of kitchen team members
- Writes and engages ordering for Deli/kitchen items including produce, Mike Hudson, Us Foods, Sysco, Woodlands Commissary, etc. Help with inventory control, distribution with storage of products and supplies.
- Communicate daily with Deli Manager and team regarding items available/not available, new items, descriptions etc.
- Maintain quality assurance, standards and consistency of products including safe handling and proper rotation.
- Gives input hiring, train, teach, and mentor Deli/kitchen staff in product knowledge, customer service, and food safety/sanitation.
- Refine Deli/Kitchen specific training/orientation utilizing existing and or new source material.
- Maintain department logs and help minimizing waste. For example, temp logs, waste logs, etc.
- Routinely check equipment for proper functionality and cleanliness, scheduling maintenance as necessary.
- Maintain the esthetic purity of hot bars, salad bars, kitchen prepack foods etc... For example, stock, face, and rotate/stir kitchen items so they look appealing.
- While maintaining an effective - positive, amicable, upbeat and "smile first" - customer service orientation, answer all customer questions (to best of ability).
- At all times, ensure standard operating procedures of safety and cleanliness including slicing, knife protocol, no eating in front of customers (anywhere behind counter), always wearing gloves when handling product, and proper hand washing procedures are followed by your team.
- Although speed is necessary to maintain effective customer service, work should be conducted in a safe, efficient manner with mutual respect for fellow employees.
- Ensure all Deli/kitchen opening and closing procedures are done correctly by team
- Help resolve any Deli issues including product and personnel issues when the Deli Manager or Deli Assistant Manager is out and report back any issues to the Deli Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Deli Manager or Store Manager.
