General Description:

The Institute for Food Safety and Health ( IFSH ) is a collaboration between Illinois Tech, the Food and Drug Administration's ( FDA ) Human Foods Program ( HFP ), and the food industry. It is based at the university-owned Moffett Campus in Bedford Park, Illinois. IFSH features a dedicated team of scientists, faculty, and staff from Illinois Tech and FDA scientists from HFP's Division of Food Processing Science and Technology, all working together in the same facility.

IFSH is a unique institute in the nation where the FDA , academia, and the food industry collaborate to conduct research in a neutral environment, addressing major national food safety and nutrition issues. The research campus operates at the U.S. General Services Administration Facility Security Level 1. It is equipped with microbiology laboratories operating at Biosafety Levels 2 and 3, chemistry laboratories, Good Manufacturing Practice ( GMP ) certified space, and pilot plant capabilities.

The Director of Facilities and Operations and Maintenance for the IFSH Moffett Campus will lead a team of facilities professionals and be responsible for strategically and tactically directing all key aspects of facilities operations, including budgeting, goal setting, employee development, and performance management. This individual must be a proactive leader, focused on infrastructure improvements while understanding the complexities of facilities built decades ago.

The salary range for this role is $100,000-$130,000 and is commiserate with experience.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree (preferred) or higher in research facilities management, and ideally have experience in engineering and a minimum of ten (10) or more years of progressive accomplishments in a similar environment.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Requires exceptional program management and leadership skills;
• Facilities and construction/project management preferred;
• Ability to work autonomously as well as effectively collaborate with others;
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information;
• Organizational skills and multi-tasking.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Zoom, Acrobat, and/or Canvas
