Overview
This position will oversee the comprehensive validation and testing processes for all clinical data entry, quality improvement initiatives, research data collection processes as well as processes related to public reporting of data for such purposes as pediatric hospital surveys and multi-institutional initiatives. This position provides support, oversight and participates in data abstraction ensuring timely, effective and efficient data retrieval. This position will facilitate, analyze and evaluate results and assist in the development of action plans. This position will have ongoing and frequent interaction with front-line clinical staff and departments including but not limited to: Medical Records, IT/IS, Informatics, and the Center for Clinical Effectiveness.
Incumbent must live within the KC Metro.
Cerner and/or Epic experience a plus.

Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive validation and testing of all clinical data entry, quality improvement metrics, research data as well as processes related to public reporting of data for such purposes as pediatric hospital surveys, national databases, and multi-institutional initiatives. Conduct and provide oversight for data abstraction and submission of clinical information:
+ Reviews medical records/reports to collect clinical research data.
+ Validates data through comparison to original documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness of data elements.
+ Assists with the design and utilization of databases.
+ Develops data collection forms and methods as needed.
+ Maintains research protocols, as assigned.
+ Inputs data into computer databases.
+ Ensures integrity of data reported.
+ Ensures that data is submitted in a timely manner (external and/or internal) as required/requested.
+ Coordinates and oversees Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) for the submission of data among all submitting parties contributing to the external databases.
+ Collaborates with IS/IT in the continued development of electronic retrieval of data from the electronic health record.
+ Provides feedback to staff relating to accurate documentation of clinical findings.
+ Acts as a primary liaison in collaboration with CMH leadership with national database owners.
Collaborates and supports data users and database leaders in data analysis to drive improvement:
+ Facilitates and supports quality improvement initiatives generated from participation in external databases.
+ Collaborates with clinical and medical informatics staff on documentation requirements to support availability of valid and reliable database elements .
+ Collaborates with data users to support accurate data interpretation and analysis.
+ Provides information and consultation related to data validity and reliability.
+ Analyzes data queries and collaborates with data users to ensure reports provide clinical relevance.
+ Generates standard and special purpose reports from databases.
+ Conducts data queries in conjunction with Clinical Decision Support and provides collated data reports from identified databases.
+ Supplies data based on data use policies and standards.
+ Assists in organizing and preparing data for dissemination at in-services, conferences, and/or for publication.
Attends educational programs, and unit/department/committee meetings as assigned:
+ Maintains knowledge of clinical practice through collaboration with clinical leaders and front-line staff to maintain knowledge of processes used to capture data within the clinical setting.
+ Fulfills mandatory education requirements
+ Regular attendance and active participation at unit/department and committee meetings as assigned
+ Educates co-workers on database management for which employee is the primary contact.
Qualifications
+ Associate's Degree in Nursing and 7 or more years' experience. Incumbent must attain BSN within 2 years of hire OR
+ BSN and 5-7 years' experience. RN experience utilizing EMR technology for data entry/extraction OR
+ Master's Degree (Preferred)
+ One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
+ One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
+ Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $36.75/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
