We are currently seeking a  Bioinformatics Scientist with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD

\nThis is a long-term contract position which offers:\n

\n TASKS . The contractor shall:\n\n

\n\t
1. Generate and optimize programs and scripts for the analysis of data; create programs and algorithms and develop computational infrastructure resources for organizing and parsing data from large and complex data\n\t
2. Provide interpretive analyses of data derived from different experimental platforms to generate biological meaning\n\t
3. Design and execute computational experiments\n\t
4. Prepare scientific reports and progress reports; assemble data to prepare tables, graphs and slides; conduct scientific and program related information searches and report results\n\t
5. Assist in evaluating and interpreting results for validity and scientific meaning\n\t
6. Coordinate building bioinformatics infrastructure to ensure easy and meaningful scientific analysis and interpretation of data.\n\t
7. Provide broad-based programming and analytic support for a wide variety of bioinformatic and research projects.\n\t
8. Provide reports based on analysis of scientific data.\n\t
9. Write custom programs and algorithms to support data analyses and discovery\n\t
10. Collaborate with scientists to design, analyze, manage and interpret all types of data\n\t
11. Work with staff to develop specifications for new analysis; design, test and implement solutions\n\t
12. Maintain proper and detailed documentation of the analysis performed and report results at lab meetings.\n\t
13. Attend scientific and programming meetings; take and compile comprehensive notes; organize and edit content of meeting reports.\n\t
14. Utilize and adapt existing bioinformatics techniques to check for trends and patterns in the data.\n\t
15. Perform data processing and data analysis with existing computational and statistical methods.\n

\n REQUIREMENTS . The contractor must have:\n\n

\n\t
1. Master’s Degree in Genetics, Biochemical Sciences, and/or related fields\n\t
2. Experience with: Long-read sequencing and variant detection, Work with large datasets, Whole Genome Sequencing, Cloud-Based Computing, Pipeline development, Methylation Analysis\n\t
3. Experience with Software such as: R, Microsoft Applications, Python, Linux, Shell\n
