Position Summary The Athletics Department at Saint John's University invites applications for a full-time (0.93 FTE), benefit eligible position of Assistant Soccer Coach and Event Supervisor.
The Assistant Soccer Coach reports to the Head Soccer Coach under the direction of the Director of Athletics. The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for helping conduct the Saint John's Soccer (SJU) program with integrity and under the rules and mission of Saint John's University, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), and NCAA Division III.

Responsibilities Assistant Soccer Coach (70%)
- Contribute to the effective management of a thriving, outcome-driven program.
- Cultivate an enriching and inclusive co-curricular journey for student athletes, enhancing SJU's reputation positively.
- Contribute to the creation of meaningful and productive training sessions.
- Offer guidance and mentorship to student athletes, fostering their growth and development.
Recruiting Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment of skilled, diverse, and talented prospective student athletes for the SJU soccer team.
- Initiate and respond to recruiting correspondences.
- Attend high school games and showcases.
- Personally engage with prospective soccer student athletes during campus visits, under the guidance of the Head Soccer Coach.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Assist in ensuring the eligibility of student athletes.
- Assist in organizing, staffing and overseeing of all home meets.
- Assist in coordinating practice and competition schedules.
- Support in arranging all team travel, lodging, and meals.
- Assist in managing equipment purchasing, distribution, inventory, and maintenance for the SJU soccer program.
- Collaborate with appropriate offices and media outlets to promote and showcase the soccer program and its student athletes to alumni, recruits and fans.
- Fulfill additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Event Supervisor (30%)
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive co-curricular experience for our student athletes that reflects positively on SJU.
- Provide guidance and support to student athletes and employees.
- Supervise designated home game-day venues, overseeing setup and breakdown of infrastructure such as bleachers, fencing, P.A. systems, scoreboards.
- Train and manage game-day security staff, ushers, field security, etc.
- Coordinate with visiting teams and officials prior to their arrival on campus and personally assist them upon arrival, escorting them to locker rooms, fields, courts, etc.
- Collaborate with the Sports Marketing Director to execute in-game promotions.
- Monitor the condition of facilities and maintain regular communication with Athletic Facility Coordinator, custodial, physical plant, and life safety departments regarding repairs, maintenance or any other facility-related concerns.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required.
- Previous college soccer coaching or playing experience.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting student-athletes.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III athletics and the role of sports in education at SJU.
- Commitment to adhering to MIAC, NCAA DIII, and institutional rules.
- An understanding and appreciation for the character and success of the SJU Athletic Department and it's programs.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with diverse groups (students, parents, alumni, colleagues, monastic community, media, and sports officials).
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to supervise and lead student crews.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain a results-oriented mindset.
- Maintain valid driver's license; driver's check and defensive driving program completion necessary upon hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - The role requires mobility across campus facilities and indoor/outdoor competition venues
- Must be capable of lifting and transporting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to adapt to varying temperatures.
- Proficient in safely and efficiently operating college vehicles.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: - Regional travel to high school soccer games and showcases.
- Some overnight travel for meets and tournaments.

LIFE INSURANCE CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary.
You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working.
VACATION Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours.

HOLIDAYS Full-time employees receive 18 paid holidays a year.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pre-tax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses.
VISION PLAN This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included.
TUITION REMISSION Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full-time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer: up to a maximum of 2 courses per year.
There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full-time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 2 years (24 months) of continuous full-time employment. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities.
Tuition assistance is also available at Saint John's Preparatory School for the dependents of full-time employees.
PARENTAL LEAVE A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment.
SICK LEAVE Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE.
Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to
all employees and immediate family members.
RETIREMENT Defined Contribution Plan CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full-time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).
Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out.
